SHEFFIELD ORATORIO CHORUS Jubilee Competition - Entry Instructions

Contestants should submit three copies of the manuscript of a short “Fanfare” work scored for a chorus of Soprano, Alto Tenor and Bass with an accompaniment of Piano/Organ with Brass (up to 8 players) and percussion including timpani (up to three players). The work should be between ten and fifteen minutes long and the manuscript submitted must be an A4 portrait format full score (Complete with bar numbers, rehearsal letters and page numbers, together with a vocal score for rehearsal) and must arrive with the Sheffield Oratorio Chorus by the end of 31st Jan 2008. to;

Entrants must choose from the set texts and may use all or part of one of these.

Submission must be accompanied by completed application form (enclosed) and signed declaration together with a non-refundable administration fee of £10.

Judging will be done “blind”. Entrants’ details including names, addresses, date of birth and sex will not be disclosed to the judges until after the final decision is made. To facilitate this, entrants may nominate a “stage name” under which their work will be judged.

The winning entrant will be notified personally by the end of May 2008

The Sheffield Oratorio Chorus will not enter into any correspondence concerning the decisions of the judges, but will be able answer queries relating to clarification of the rules of the competition. This can be done by e-mail to
